Hello, my name is Ara. I’m an artist, a mom & a tattoo advisor located around the Portland area. I consider myself a true artist because art has always been a necessity in my everyday life. I don’t create art just because I like to; I do it because there’s a feeling of forgetfulness and missing that lingers if I don’t. From a very young age, I watched my father make detailed realism drawings with nothing but paper and a ballpoint pen. I’ve been on my own artistic adventure ever since. Art plays a major role in my existence and identity but I believe it also plays a very important and irreplaceable role in life as a whole. The “best” art doesn’t have to be a detailed painting or marble sculpture, I believe it’s anything that invokes an emotion of quality, depth or relatability without the use of direct verbal explanation. One of my favorite quotes is by Rainbow Rowell: “She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn’t supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something.” Making people feel something is what I strive for through my art. Instagram @seriously.inked
